
With the IPL 2025 playoffs fast approaching, Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) have signed Tim Seifert as a replacement for Jacob Bethell, who is set to join the England national team after RCB’s league fixture against Sunrisers Hyderabad on May 23.
New Zealand wicketkeeper-batter Seifert, who has previously played for Kolkata Knight Riders (2021) and Delhi Capitals (2022), has joined RCB for a fee of ₹2 crore. He will be eligible to play for the team starting May 24.
RCB Secure Playoff Berth, Strengthen Squad
RCB have already qualified for the IPL 2025 playoffs and currently sit second on the points table with 17 points from 12 matches. With two league games remaining, they will face LSG on May 27.
RCB are also bolstering their Indian lineup, having signed Mayank Agarwal as a replacement for the injured Devdutt Padikkal.
Mayank Agarwal on Returning to RCB
Mayank, who began his IPL journey with RCB in 2011, expressed joy over returning to the franchise:
“It feels amazing. It just feels that life has come a full circle. Started off in 2011 with RCB and then just coming back now, just feels good.”
RCB Director of Cricket Mo Bobat added that Mayank’s experience and composure will be vital during high-pressure games:
“We were definitely after a calm head, someone with some experience. As we move to the pressure games, we think that experience will be really helpful.”
With strategic signings and key players returning to form, RCB appear well-equipped to mount a serious challenge for their maiden IPL title in the 2025 season.
