Rishabh Pant, captain of Lucknow Super Giants, has been fined ₹30 lakh by the BCCI for maintaining a slow over rate during their final IPL 2025 league match against Royal Challengers Bengaluru. As this was Pant’s third slow over-rate offence of the season, the fine was much higher than the standard ₹12 lakh penalty given for first-time offences.
According to BCCI’s official statement, “Pant has been fined ₹30 lakh after LSG maintained a slow over-rate during Match 70 of IPL 2025.”
Entire Team Penalized Alongside Pant
Not just Pant—all players in LSG’s playing XI, including the Impact Player, were also fined. Each was either charged ₹12 lakh or 50% of their match fee, whichever is lower, as per the IPL Code of Conduct rules.
This fine came after LSG’s high-scoring match against RCB in which Rishabh Pant scored a brilliant 118 off 61 balls*, helping LSG reach 227/3. However, his efforts weren’t enough, as RCB successfully chased the target down in 18.4 overs.
What’s Next for Pant and LSG?
Despite the personal milestone, the loss ended LSG’s journey in IPL 2025. RCB’s win confirmed their spot in Qualifier 1 against Punjab Kings, while Gujarat Titans will face Mumbai Indians in the Eliminator.
Pant will now shift focus to India’s upcoming Test series in England, starting June 20, where he has been named vice-captain under Shubman Gill.
