India’s star wicketkeeper-batter Rishabh Pant lit up the training session at Lord’s Cricket Ground by smashing a massive six that broke the roof of the training area. This came during India’s practice ahead of the much-awaited five-match Test series against England, starting June 20 at Headingley, Leeds.
Pant, who is the vice-captain of the Shubman Gill-led squad, was seen practising big hits during a net session. Off Washington Sundar’s delivery, he launched a slog sweep that crashed into the roof, sending a loud signal to the English side. This six wasn’t just a shot—it was a statement.
India Gearing Up for the Test Challenge
India’s Test squad, minus Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma post-retirement, is preparing in London with training sessions at Lord’s. The team will play an intra-squad match against India A starting June 13, which will help finalise the playing XI.
India A, featuring players like Karun Nair and KL Rahul, recently impressed with solid performances in drawn games against England Lions, making a strong case for Test selection.
Pant’s UK Record and IPL Form
While Pant had a below-par IPL 2025, scoring 269 runs in 14 matches for Lucknow Super Giants, he finished with an unbeaten 118 in the last league match. Despite that heroic knock, his team lost to Royal Challengers Bengaluru. In England, though, Pant boasts 2 Test centuries and 556 runs from 9 Tests, making him a key player in these conditions.
