Finn Allen Destroys Records with Fastest T20 150, Breaks Chris Gayle’s 19-Sixes Mark in MLC 2025

Finn Allen Hits Fastest T20 150 Breaks Sixes Record

Finn Allen, unsold in the IPL for three straight years, announced his comeback in grand fashion, smashing a jaw-dropping 151 off 51 balls in the opening match of Major League Cricket (MLC) 2025. Playing for San Francisco Unicorns, the New Zealand opener shattered Chris Gayle’s long-standing record by hitting 19 sixes — the most ever in a men’s T20 innings.

Fastest T20 150, Most Sixes in an Innings

In a never-before-seen display of power-hitting at Oakland Coliseum, Allen reached his 150 in just 49 balls, surpassing Gayle’s iconic 50-ball 150 (IPL 2013). His innings, laced with 19 sixes and 5 fours, is now the fastest 150 and the most sixes in a single T20 innings, globally.

🔥 Previous record:
18 sixes – Chris Gayle (2017), Sahil Chauhan (2024)
✅ New record:
19 sixes – Finn Allen (2025)

Washington Freedom Bowlers Left Helpless

Opening with Tim Seifert, Allen raced to 50 in just 20 balls and brought up his hundred in only 34 — a new MLC record, breaking Nicholas Pooran’s 40-ball century. He dispatched bowlers at will:

  • Mitchell Owen: 4 sixes
  • Saurabh Netravalkar: 3 sixes
  • Glenn Phillips: Hat-trick of sixes in a single over

Eventually, Allen was dismissed for 151 in the 18th over, trying for a 20th six, caught off Owen.

San Francisco Posts Record-Breaking Total

Thanks to Allen’s explosive knock, San Francisco Unicorns posted 269/5, the highest T20 total ever recorded on U.S. soil, obliterating previous MLC and American records.

Unsold in IPL, Dominates World Stage

Despite being unsold in three consecutive IPL auctions (last base price ₹2 crore), Allen’s latest knock serves as a reminder of his elite striking abilities. He now has over 4,100 T20 runs at a strike rate of 173.27, the highest among batters with 1,000+ runs.

Just months earlier, he had equalled Hazratullah Zazai’s T20I record with 16 sixes in a 137-run knock against Pakistan. Today, he went even further.
