Suryakumar Yadav Faces Criticism Ahead of India-Pakistan Clash

Suryakumar Yadav criticised before Asia Cup clash

Ahead of the highly anticipated India vs Pakistan match in the Asia Cup on September 14, former Pakistan cricketer Bazid Khan has taken aim at India’s T20I captain Suryakumar Yadav. On the show Game On Hai, Khan said, “Suryakumar scores runs against almost everyone, but somehow, against Pakistan, he hasn’t been effective”.

Poor Stats Against Pakistan

Suryakumar Yadav has played five T20Is against Pakistan, scoring just 64 runs at an average of 12.80 and a strike rate of 118.50. His highest score in those matches is 18. Khan believes this underwhelming record could benefit Pakistan’s bowling attack, though he couldn’t pinpoint the exact reason behind the dip in performance.

Strong IPL Form Offers Hope

Despite his struggles against Pakistan, Suryakumar enters the Asia Cup in top form. He scored over 700 runs in the latest IPL season for Mumbai Indians, finishing as the second-highest run-scorer. His explosive batting and leadership will be crucial as India navigates the tournament without veterans Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma, and Ravindra Jadeja.

India’s Squad and Leadership Shift

India’s Asia Cup squad features a mix of youth and experience, with Shubman Gill named vice-captain. Notably, Shreyas Iyer and Yashasvi Jaiswal were left out despite strong IPL performances. With Suryakumar at the helm, all eyes will be on how he handles pressure and responds to criticism in one of cricket’s fiercest rivalries
