Former Indian bowler Irfan Pathan has hinted that a new left-arm pacer will be ready for the Indian team once the Indian Premier League gets over. IPL is all set to begin on 31st March, and its final will be played on 24th May. Pathan is confident that the Indian team will have a good left-arm fast bowler with them who could play any format.
What did Pathan say?
In a tweet last evening, Pathan hinted that a left-arm pacer will soon be ready to join the Indian team. He wrote, “One left armer will be ready for team India after this IPL is over…”
Now, he did not reveal who this fast bowler is going to be but asked fans to be patient and wait for the arrival of the next superstar. However, fans are speculating that this upcoming fast bowler could very well be Mohsin Khan, who played IPL for Lucknow Super Giants
However, another faction of fans thinks that it is some secret bowler that Pathan has been grooming for a while and would reveal it during the Indian Premier League. Nonetheless, fans are excited to see what trick Irfan has up his sleeve.
Why the need?
The Indian team suffered a humiliating defeat against the Australian team in the second ODI. Indian batters’ weakness to left-arm pace was once again exposed as Starc ripped apart the Indian top order.
This once again opened the debate of the Indian team needing a left-arm fast bowler. Experts believe that one of the major reasons the Indian team is struggling against the left-arm pacers is because of the absence of a good left-armer within the team. There was once a time India had some top-quality fast bowlers in the team in the likes of Zaheer Khan, Irfan Pathan, RP Singh, and Ashish Nehra.
Ever since these legends retired, India have tried their hardest to find a like replacement but have not been able to succeed so far. It is hoped that Irfan Pathan will soon give the Indian team a good news.
