In a major controversy ahead of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) 2025, South African all-rounder Corbin Bosch has been slapped with a one-year ban by the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB). The punishment comes after Bosch withdrew from Peshawar Zalmi to instead join Mumbai Indians in the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025.
The PCB announced the ban on Thursday, citing a breach of contractual obligations. Bosch was drafted by Zalmi in the January 2025 PSL Draft but later opted to sign with Mumbai Indians as a replacement for the injured Lizaad Williams.
“The all-rounder will serve a one-year ban and will not be eligible for selection in next year’s Pakistan Super League,” said the PCB in an official statement.
Bosch Apologizes After PCB’s Disciplinary Action
Following the disciplinary decision, Corbin Bosch issued a public apology, acknowledging the breach and expressing regret over his decision.
“I deeply regret my decision and offer my sincere apologies to the people of Pakistan, the fans of Peshawar Zalmi, and the wider cricket community,” Bosch stated.
“I fully understand the disappointment caused by my actions, but I am committed to learning from this experience and hope to return to the PSL in the future with renewed dedication and the trust of the fans.”
Bosch has featured in several global T20 leagues, and this controversy now puts his PSL 2026 participation in serious doubt.
IPL vs PSL: Clash of Calendars Creates Player Dilemma
The controversy has reignited the debate over scheduling conflicts between the IPL and PSL, which have overlapping dates in 2025. With top players now forced to choose between the two leagues, disciplinary actions like Bosch’s ban highlight the increasing pressure on international cricketers.
Despite the calendar clash, PSL 2025, beginning Friday, will still see a lineup of international stars including David Warner, Daryl Mitchell, Tim Seifert, Michael Bracewell, Jason Holder, and Rassie van der Dussen.
Bosch, meanwhile, remains eligible to play in IPL 2025 and is currently with the Mumbai Indians, adding to the firepower of the franchise.
