David Warner Responds Calmly to Claim About Indian Fans Spreading Hate Over PSL Debut

David Warner Reacts to Claim About Indian Hate Over PSL Debut

Karachi Kings’ new captain defuses tense moment in press conference ahead of PSL 2025 opener

David Warner, one of the most celebrated openers in international cricket, is all set to make his debut in the Pakistan Super League (PSL) 2025 as the captain of Karachi Kings. While the cricketing world is excited about his participation, Warner recently found himself in an unexpected situation during his first press conference in Pakistan.

Warner faces controversial question on Indian fans

Ahead of Karachi Kings’ opening match against Multan Sultans, a Pakistani journalist posed a provocative question to Warner. The reporter claimed that many Indian fans had trolled Warner for playing in the PSL, especially after he went unsold in the IPL 2025 auction.

The journalist also suggested that Indians were “spreading hate” on social media over Warner’s PSL participation. Warner, however, kept his cool and responded calmly.

“This is the first I’ve heard of it,” Warner replied.
“From my perspective, I want to play cricket. There’s an opportunity to come to PSL. My international calendar didn’t allow me before. Now, I want to compete, captain the Karachi Kings, and hopefully win the trophy.”

Warner’s IPL journey: A look back

Although not part of IPL 2025, David Warner remains the most successful overseas batter in IPL history. He has scored 6,565 runs in 184 matches, representing Delhi Capitals and Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH). In fact, Warner led SRH to their only title win in IPL 2016.

He briefly captained Delhi Capitals in 2023 when Rishabh Pant was recovering from a car accident. However, Warner was released before the IPL 2025 auction, creating space for new players in the DC lineup.

Despite the release, Warner remains 4th on the all-time IPL run-scorers list, behind Virat Kohli, Shikhar Dhawan, and Rohit Sharma.

Why Warner’s PSL debut matters

Warner’s entry into the PSL is big news for both the league and the Karachi Kings franchise. After retiring from international cricket in 2024, the left-hander now has more flexibility to explore franchise leagues globally.

With his leadership and explosive batting skills, Warner’s role could be key in turning Karachi Kings into strong title contenders this season.
