MCA Makes T20 Mumbai League Mandatory for Suryakumar, Iyer, Dube & Other Stars

MCA Mandates T20 League for Mumbai’s Top Cricketers

The Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) has made it mandatory for all Indian players from Mumbai, including stars like Suryakumar Yadav, Shreyas Iyer, Shivam Dube, and Prithvi Shaw, to participate in the upcoming T20 Mumbai League, unless they are part of the national squad or sidelined due to injury.

The MCA also announced that India’s ODI and Test captain, Rohit Sharma, will be the official face of the T20 Mumbai League, aiming to boost the tournament’s visibility and popularity.

“All Mumbai’s Indian players have been informed that they have to play the T20 Mumbai League, which will begin after the IPL. It’s mandatory unless they have national commitments or injuries,” confirmed an MCA official.

₹15 Lakh Participation Fee for Indian Players

In addition to auction earnings, each Indian player will receive ₹15 lakh as a participation fee directly from the association. MCA is currently finalizing base prices and auction rules.

Season 4 Set to Begin May 26

With over 2800 local cricketers registered, Season 4 of the T20 Mumbai League promises high engagement. The auction is scheduled for May, and the tournament will run from May 26 to June 5, immediately after IPL 2025 concludes.

“The response to Season 3 has been phenomenal. The registrations reflect Mumbai’s unmatched cricket passion,” said MCA secretary Abhay Hadap.

Expansion to 8 Teams

The MCA has also added two new franchises, expanding the tournament from six to eight teams. The earlier lineup featured:

  • North Mumbai Panthers
  • ARCS Andheri
  • Triumph Knights Mumbai North East
  • NaMo Bandra Blasters
  • Eagle Thane Strikers
  • Aakash Tigers Mumbai Western Suburbs

With stronger player participation and a star ambassador, the MCA aims to elevate the T20 Mumbai League into one of India’s premier domestic cricket platforms.
