Suryakumar Yadav Playfully Checks Abhishek Sharma’s Pockets During IPL 2025 Match

Suryakumar Yadav Checks Abhishek Sharma’s Pockets | IPL 2025

In a light-hearted moment during the Mumbai Indians (MI) vs Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) IPL 2025 match on Thursday, April 17, Suryakumar Yadav was seen playfully checking SRH’s opener, Abhishek Sharma’s pockets for chits. The incident left fans and viewers in splits and has quickly gone viral on social media platforms.

The Incident at Wankhede Stadium

The playful check occurred during SRH’s innings when Abhishek Sharma, after getting off to a promising start, was facing MI’s Hardik Pandya. Abhishek had already scored a solid 36 runs off 26 balls with six fours, and MI captain Hardik Pandya was preparing to bowl.

Suryakumar, known for his playful nature and friendly banter, walked up to Abhishek while he was marking his run-up, jokingly asking if Abhishek had a chit similar to the one he pulled out in the previous match against Punjab Kings. This chit had made waves on social media after Abhishek’s record-breaking century in the last game. To confirm, Suryakumar checked Abhishek’s pockets, only to find them empty.

The Famous Chit Incident

In SRH’s last game against PBKS, Abhishek had hit his maiden IPL century off just 40 balls. During his knock, he pulled out a chit from his pocket, which read, “This one’s for the Orange Army,” showing his appreciation for SRH’s passionate fan base. The ‘Orange Army’ had been backing him since his transformation into a hard-hitting batter in SRH’s new attacking approach.

This quirky act became a fan favorite, and the video soon went viral. However, despite his good start against MI, the chit-checking incident didn’t turn out to be a lucky charm for Abhishek.

Abhishek’s Dismissal

In the very same over, after hitting a boundary off Hardik Pandya, Abhishek was dismissed trying to cut a short ball for six. He was caught in the deep, and his inning came to an end.

MI vs SRH: A Slow Chase for SRH

SRH had a difficult time against Mumbai, finishing their innings at 162/5 on a sluggish Wankhede pitch. In reply, MI easily chased down the target of 163, scoring 166/6 in 18.1 overs with 11 balls to spare. This win gave MI their third victory in seven games, improving their position in the standings.

SRH, on the other hand, remained in the 9th position, ahead of only Chennai Super Kings, with two wins and five losses. The team’s struggles with the bat continue, and they will need to address these issues in upcoming matches.
