KKR’s Home Troubles Worsen in IPL 2025

KKR’s Home Struggles Continue Morgan Criticizes Tactics

Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) are facing mounting pressure after a 39-run loss to Gujarat Titans at Eden Gardens, marking their fifth defeat in eight games this IPL season. The team has now lost three of four matches at home, and the lack of form, especially in their batting lineup, is causing concern among fans and experts alike.

Eoin Morgan Questions KKR’s Team Changes

Former KKR captain Eoin Morgan expressed disappointment with the team’s performance and questioned the tactical changes made for the match against Gujarat. “They made a couple of changes to gain momentum in the batting lineup, but it didn’t work,” Morgan said on JioStar. He noted the absence of substantial partnerships during the chase of 199, which ended at a modest 159/8.

Morgan also found Ajinkya Rahane’s post-match comments surprising. “To hear him say 199 was chaseable was interesting because the pitch slowed down towards the end. It became harder to find boundaries,” he said.

Praise for Prasidh Krishna and Sudharsan

Morgan lauded Gujarat Titans’ pacer Prasidh Krishna, who bowled a vital spell of 4-0-25-2. “He’s the Purple Cap holder for a reason. His rhythm and impact during the middle overs are priceless for any captain,” he remarked.

Former India batter Ambati Rayudu also applauded B Sai Sudharsan, who scored 52 off 36 balls to surpass 400 runs in the season. “He plays the game in a traditional way — under the eyes, along the ground. It’s smart, confident cricket,” Rayudu noted.

What’s Next for KKR?

With KKR slipping further down the points table, the franchise will need to regroup quickly and find consistency in their playing XI. Their playoff hopes now depend on winning the majority of their remaining matches and addressing batting inconsistencies that have haunted them all season.
