Rajasthan Royals’ struggles in IPL 2025 hit a new low on Thursday night as the team suffered its fifth consecutive defeat. Following the 11-run loss against Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB), a video surfaced online showing RR CEO Jake Lush McCrum walking towards a liquor store in Bengaluru.
Fan Captures Viral Moment After RR Collapse
In a video shared by an RCB fan, McCrum was spotted seemingly heading towards Tonique, an upscale liquor store, soon after Rajasthan’s defeat at M. Chinnaswamy Stadium. The fan commented that McCrum looked like he was ready to “drink away the pain” after the Royals’ latest collapse.
RR, despite a solid start in the run-chase, fell short once again, managing only 194/9 while chasing RCB’s 205/5.
Rajasthan Royals’ Struggles Continue
The Royals began strongly with a 52-run opening stand between Yashasvi Jaiswal (49 off 19 balls) and young Vaibhav Suryavanshi. Dhruv Jurel (47 off 34) tried to rescue the innings late, but wickets fell rapidly in the middle overs. Krunal Pandya’s double strike and Josh Hazlewood’s four-wicket haul left RR reeling.
This defeat equaled Rajasthan’s longest losing streak in IPL history — five matches — a record set back in 2009.
RCB’s Strong Show at Home
For RCB, the win marked their first home victory of IPL 2025. Virat Kohli (70) and Devdutt Padikkal (50) set up a big total, helping RCB climb to third spot in the points table. Kohli also moved up to second in the Orange Cap race behind Sai Sudharsan.
RCB will next face Delhi Capitals in an away fixture at the Arun Jaitley Stadium.
Criticism From Legends
Cricket legend Sunil Gavaskar didn’t mince words after RR’s defeat. Speaking on Star Sports, he said:
“With someone like Rahul Dravid as the coach, it was baffling… it was just unthinking cricket.”
As Rajasthan Royals’ season spirals downward, the road to the playoffs now looks extremely difficult.
