Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) have announced Harsh Dubey as the replacement for injured batter Smaran Ravichandran for the remainder of IPL 2025. The Vidarbha all-rounder joins the squad for ₹30 lakh and is expected to boost SRH’s all-round options as the team fights to stay alive in the tournament.
Who is Harsh Dubey?
Harsh Dubey is a left-arm spin all-rounder who has represented Vidarbha in domestic cricket. He recently gained attention for his outstanding performance in the 2024/25 Ranji Trophy, where he played a key role in Vidarbha’s title win. With 69 wickets and 476 runs, he was named the Player of the Tournament.
Across formats, Dubey has played:
- 16 T20s
- 20 List A matches
- 18 First-Class games
He has a total of 127 wickets and 941 runs in his domestic career so far.
Dubey Attended Multiple IPL Trials
Before getting picked by SRH, Dubey was part of IPL trials with several franchises including:
- Rajasthan Royals
- Royal Challengers Bengaluru
- Mumbai Indians
- Sunrisers Hyderabad
His inclusion comes as SRH look to strengthen their spin department heading into the final leg of the league stage.
Smaran Ravichandran Ruled Out with Injury
Interestingly, Smaran Ravichandran himself was a replacement player — brought in last month to replace injured Adam Zampa. Smaran was acquired at the same base price of ₹30 lakh.
A promising top-order batter from Karnataka, Smaran had a breakthrough domestic season:
- First-Class: 500+ runs in 7 matches (Avg. 64.50), including a double century
- List A: 433 runs in 10 matches (Avg. 72.16), 2 centuries
- T20s: 170 runs in 6 matches (Strike Rate: 170)
He was the star of the Vijay Hazare Trophy 2024–25, where he led Karnataka to the title with a brilliant century in the final.
SRH’s Playoff Hopes Slim
SRH currently have only 3 wins in 11 matches, sitting near the bottom of the IPL 2025 points table. They will next face Delhi Capitals in a must-win match at home on Monday evening.
