Yashasvi Jaiswal Reverses Decision, Wants to Continue With Mumbai

Jaiswal Wants to Stay With Mumbai Drops Goa Transfer

India’s young batting sensation Yashasvi Jaiswal has made a surprising U-turn in his domestic cricket plans. After initially requesting a move to Goa, Jaiswal has now expressed his desire to continue playing for Mumbai in the 2025–26 season.

The Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) has confirmed receiving a letter from Jaiswal explaining his change of heart. The left-handed opener cited a shift in his family’s relocation plans as the reason for cancelling his move to Goa.

Jaiswal’s Letter and MCA’s Response

Just over a month ago, Jaiswal had applied for a no-objection certificate (NOC) to shift to Goa and had been granted one by the MCA. However, MCA secretary Abhay Hadap has now revealed that Jaiswal never submitted the NOC to the BCCI or the Goa Cricket Association.

“He has written a letter to us, but we are in no hurry to take a decision on this because there is time for the next domestic season,” Hadap told ESPNcricinfo.

The MCA will discuss the matter during its upcoming apex council meeting expected in two weeks.

IPL 2025 Halted, Jaiswal Eyes England Tour

Jaiswal was a key player for Rajasthan Royals in IPL 2025 before the league was suspended due to escalating India-Pakistan border tensions. He scored 473 runs in 12 matches, including five fifties, at a strike rate of 154.57—making him RR’s top scorer this season.

With IPL 2025 on hold, Jaiswal’s next focus will be India’s five-match Test tour of England starting June 20. The 23-year-old is likely to play a crucial role in the top order.

A Strong History With Mumbai

Jaiswal has been part of the Mumbai setup since his Under-19 days. He made his first-class debut in 2019 and has amassed 863 runs in 10 matches at an average of 53.93. His highest first-class score remains 181 against Uttar Pradesh in 2022.

Despite an ankle injury ruling him out of the Ranji Trophy semi-final this year, Jaiswal remains an integral part of Mumbai’s red-ball cricket plans—something the MCA is now likely to retain if they approve his recent request.
