Gujarat Titans Lead the Way in Training Resumption

Gujarat Titans Resume Training Amid IPL 2025 Suspension

Despite the ongoing suspension of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 due to escalating tensions between India and Pakistan, Gujarat Titans have taken a proactive step by resuming their training sessions. On Sunday evening, the team conducted a comprehensive net session at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad, marking the first instance of an IPL franchise returning to practice amidst the hiatus.

The training session, which lasted approximately three hours, saw the participation of key players, including captain Shubman Gill and pacer Mohammed Siraj. Notably, overseas players like Kagiso Rabada and Sherfane Rutherford also joined the practice, indicating a collective commitment to staying prepared for the tournament’s potential resumption.

A Gujarat Titans official commented, “Yes, we have started training. The boys looked sharp, and we are ready to go.”

Punjab Kings’ Coaching Staff Remain in India

In contrast to several international players and staff who have departed India amid the uncertainty, the coaching staff of Punjab Kings have chosen to stay. Head coach Ricky Ponting, along with assistants Brad Haddin and James Hopes, have remained in Delhi, demonstrating their dedication to the team during this period.

This decision comes despite earlier reports suggesting that Australian members of the Punjab Kings squad were considering returning home due to safety concerns. Their continued presence underscores a commitment to the team’s cohesion and readiness for the tournament’s eventual resumption.

Awaiting Official Confirmation on IPL 2025 Resumption

While teams like Gujarat Titans are taking steps to maintain readiness, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has yet to provide a definitive timeline for the IPL’s resumption. The suspension, initiated due to security concerns following the Indo-Pak border tensions, has left franchises and fans in a state of anticipation.

The BCCI is expected to consult with government authorities and stakeholders to assess the situation and determine the feasibility of continuing the tournament. Until then, teams are focusing on internal preparations, ensuring that players remain in form and ready to compete when the league resumes.
