Uncapped Carmichael, Mayes and McCarthy Called Up for Ireland ODIs vs West Indies

Ireland Call Up 3 Uncapped Players for WI ODI Series

Ireland have announced their squad for the upcoming three-match ODI series against West Indies, featuring three uncapped players: batter Cade Carmichael and seamers Thomas Mayes and Liam McCarthy. The series begins May 21 in Clontarf.

Adair Misses ODIs, Returns for T20Is

Key pacer Mark Adair will miss the ODI leg as he continues to recover from a knee injury sustained during the Zimbabwe tour earlier this year. He is, however, expected to return for the T20I series in June.

McCarthy is also part of the T20I squad, while the ODI squad sees the exclusion of Gavin Hoey, Graham Hume, and Morgan Topping from Ireland’s last 50-over outing.

Rising Talent Recognised

All three newcomers impressed during the recent Ireland A tri-series in UAE against Sri Lanka A and Afghanistan A. Carmichael also started the domestic List A tournament in fine form with knocks of 107 and 86.

“Cade’s rise is a testament to consistent domestic performance,” said Ireland selector Andrew White. “Mayes brings height and control, while McCarthy’s unique skillset adds variety to our pace attack.”

West Indies Return to Ireland After Five Years

This will be the West Indies’ first tour to Ireland since 2019, with the ODIs taking place on May 21, 23, and 25. The T20I series will follow on June 12, 14, and 15 in Bready.
