The Dubai Capitals, reigning ILT20 champions, have officially been confirmed as the fifth and final team for the 2025 Global Super League (GSL), scheduled to be held in Guyana from July 10–18. With this announcement, the GSL continues to position itself as the spiritual successor to the Champions League T20 (CLT20), which was last held in 2014.
Five Champions, One League
The second edition of this invite-only tournament will feature:
- Rangpur Riders (defending GSL champions, Bangladesh)
- Hobart Hurricanes (BBL 2025 champions, Australia)
- Central Stags (Super Smash champions, New Zealand)
- Guyana Amazon Warriors (hosts and CPL franchise)
- Dubai Capitals (ILT20 2025 champions, UAE)
The format will be a single round-robin stage followed by a final, with all 11 matches played at the Providence Stadium in Guyana.
GSL: A Global T20 Showcase
Founded with backing from Guyana President Mohammad Irfan Ali and title sponsors ExxonMobil, the GSL aims to raise Guyana’s international profile and revive the spirit of the once-popular CLT20.
Clive Lloyd, GSL Chairman, welcomed the Capitals’ inclusion, stating:
“Their reputation as ILT20 champions speaks volumes, and their inclusion will undoubtedly enhance the quality and spectacle of the cricket on offer.”
Dubai Capitals Set to Shine
Owned by GMR Group—the same entity that co-owns IPL’s Delhi Capitals—the Dubai Capitals clinched their maiden title earlier this year by defeating Desert Vipers in the ILT20 final.
