On Saturday, April 29, the two teams will square off in the afternoon match at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata. In his eight innings in the current season of the Indian Premier League, Russell has only managed 108 runs at a disappointing average of 18.00.

The former Indian opener predicts KKR’s bowling attack will rely heavily on their spinners, stating:

“I think it’s going to be a battle of spin. Both sides will bowl a lot of spin. Suyash Sharma, Varun Chakaravarthy, and Sunil Narine – these three spinners. I don’t see the Kolkata team doing much fast bowling and in any case, their fast bowling has not been that good.”

The top three wicket-takers for KKR in IPL 2023 thus far are Varun Chakaravarthy (13), Suyash Sharma (9), and Sunil Narine (6). Their only seamer with more than two wickets is Andre Russell (5).

When the teams met last time

On April 9, the Titans appeared to be on their way to a straightforward victory in Ahmedabad when KKR needed 28 runs off the final five deliveries. However, Rinku Singh did the unthinkable and led his team over the finish line by slamming five consecutive sixes off the bowling of Yash Dayal.
