Punjab Kings are back in the IPL playoffs after 11 long years, and as they gear up to face Royal Challengers Bengaluru in Qualifier 1, fast bowler Arshdeep Singh has a heartfelt request for the people of Punjab — support your home team.
PBKS Eye First Final Since 2014 with Home Advantage
The IPL 2025 Qualifier 1 will be played at the New PCA Stadium in Mullanpur, Punjab — making it a true home game for the Kings. After years of underperformance, PBKS have found the perfect combination in captain Shreyas Iyer, strong batting depth, and a well-rounded pace attack led by Arshdeep.
Yet, despite this turnaround, Arshdeep shared on social media that support from Punjab locals still falls short.
“You’re not Punjabi but you’re still supporting Punjab, whereas a lot of people from Punjab don’t support us,” he told a fan on Snapchat.
He added,
“I would like to urge them to support Punjab, their state, their team, and come in big numbers to see us win.”
RCB’s Strong Away Form Poses a Threat
Punjab’s opponent, RCB, enters the clash with a perfect record of 7 wins in 7 away matches this season. With Virat Kohli leading a global fan-favorite squad, there are concerns that Mullanpur could see more red than maroon in the stands.
However, PBKS are determined to change the atmosphere. Arshdeep’s emotional appeal reflects a broader effort by Punjab Kings’ management to turn the tide and create a fortress at home.
PBKS vs RCB: High-Stakes Battle for IPL Final Spot
Both PBKS and RCB are chasing their first-ever IPL trophy, adding more pressure to this critical encounter. For PBKS, it’s a chance to return to the final for the first time since 2014. For RCB, it would be their first since 2016.
The match is set for Thursday, May 29, and all eyes will be on whether Punjab can rally their home fans to out-cheer the RCB army and help their team take one big step closer to IPL glory.
