The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has firmly denied match-fixing allegations made against Rajasthan Royals (RR) during their narrow loss to Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) in the IPL 2025. The charges were raised by Rajasthan Cricket Association (RCA) ad-hoc committee convenor Jaydeep Bihani, claiming RR intentionally lost the April 19 match in Jaipur.
BCCI Rejects Fixing Claims, Says No Truth in Allegations
Speaking to The Times of India, a senior BCCI official brushed off the accusations, stating, “The RCA is currently dissolved. An ad-hoc committee has been formed, and with elections approaching, there is a lot of drama. Everyone wants attention.”
The official reassured fans and stakeholders, emphasizing the presence of the BCCI’s dedicated Anti-Corruption Unit (ACU):
“The BCCI has an anti-corruption unit working 24×7 to keep bad elements away from the game. There is no truth to these allegations.”
Rajasthan Royals Issue Strongly Worded Response
The Rajasthan Royals franchise responded by sending a formal letter to the BCCI condemning the accusations.
“The statements made by the convener are without any evidence and serve only to stir unnecessary controversy,” the letter read.
The Royals asserted that such claims not only damage the reputation of the franchise but also tarnish the image of cricket and the BCCI.
Ticket Dispute Behind Allegations?
According to the report, the root of the controversy may lie in a dispute over complimentary match tickets. Previously, RR provided around 1800 free tickets per home game to the RCA. However, since the RCA was dissolved, only 1000–1200 tickets have been provided to the Rajasthan State Sports Council (RSSC).
A franchise insider said,
“Disgruntled RCA members are demanding an exorbitant amount of tickets, and we are not entertaining them. This is the sole reason behind all this drama.”
RR Clarifies Adherence to Protocol
RR reaffirmed that it is complying with BCCI guidelines by working directly with the RSSC and the state government for match arrangements.
“The BCCI has confirmed and approved that the RSSC has the hosting rights for IPL matches in Jaipur,” the Royals stated.
The franchise also highlighted its 18-year-long commitment to maintaining transparency and professionalism in IPL operations.
