In a significant update to India’s upcoming home cricket season, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has announced changes in the venues for multiple matches. The most notable update is that Eden Gardens in Kolkata will now host the 1st Test between India and South Africa, scheduled to begin on November 14, 2025. This Test was originally slated for New Delhi.
According to the BCCI’s official statement on Monday, the Arun Jaitley Stadium in New Delhi will now host the 2nd Test between India and West Indies in October, which was initially assigned to Eden Gardens.
Reason for Changes and Other Venue Updates
While no specific reasons were mentioned for the South Africa venue swap, the BCCI did confirm that MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai is undergoing a revamp of its outfield and pitches. As a result, the Australia Women’s ODI series has been moved to New Chandigarh and New Delhi.
Additionally, the India A vs South Africa A matches have been moved from Bengaluru to Rajkot, again without a specified reason.
