Haider Ali Cleared in UK Rape Case, Declared Not Guilty

Haider Ali Cleared in UK Rape Case Verdict

Pakistan cricketer Haider Ali has been cleared in the UK rape case after Greater Manchester Police confirmed there was not enough evidence to move forward. The 24-year-old batter was declared not guilty and is now free to leave the UK after weeks of investigation.

Ali was arrested in early August at the Spitfire County Ground in Kent following a report filed with Greater Manchester Police. The allegation involved a British-Pakistani woman who claimed sexual assault at a Manchester hotel in July, during Ali’s stay after a Pakistan Shaheens tour.

Allegations and Arrest

The woman alleged that the incident occurred on July 23 in Manchester. She met Ali again on August 1 in Ashford, before filing a report on August 4. The same day, police arrested Ali in Kent.

Following his arrest, Ali was provisionally suspended by the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB). He was released on bail but remained in the UK throughout the investigation.

Police Decision and Legal Support

After a detailed review, Greater Manchester Police and the UK’s Crown Prosecution Services (CPS) confirmed that there was insufficient proof to continue the case.

Ali cooperated fully with authorities and denied all allegations, saying he knew the woman who made the report. He was represented by criminal law Barrister Moeen Khan during proceedings. The PCB stated Ali “received appropriate legal support to protect his rights throughout this process” in line with their player welfare and code of conduct.

Cleared to Leave UK

Police confirmed to Geo News that Haider Ali had been cleared of all charges and allowed to reclaim his passport. “Haider Ali has been cleared to leave the UK following the dropping of charges,” police said.

The PCB has not yet released an official statement on the matter.

Haider Ali’s Cricket Career

Ali has represented Pakistan in 35 T20Is and two ODIs. His last appearance came during the Asian Games in China in late 2023.

With the case now closed, Ali looks set to resume his cricketing career once the PCB finalizes his reinstatement.
