IPL 2025: Shubman Gill’s Captaincy Pushes Gujarat Titans Closer to Playoffs

Shubman Gill’s Captaincy Shines in IPL 2025

Shubman Gill’s captaincy is gaining recognition as Gujarat Titans (GT) move closer to securing a spot in the IPL 2025 playoffs. After a disappointing debut season as captain last year, Gill has turned things around with 7 wins in 10 matches this season. His proactive style and ability to handle on-field pressure have caught the eye of many, including GT’s Director of Cricket, Vikram Solanki.

Speaking at a pre-match press conference, Solanki said, “He’s an outstanding batsman with a bright future, but what’s even more pleasing is how he’s growing as a leader. He’s really taken on the captaincy role well.”

Solanki admitted that captaincy can sometimes burden top players, but with Gill, it’s been the opposite. “Sometimes, you worry that leadership might affect performance, but Shubman has actually thrived. He’s embraced the responsibility,” he added.

Sai Sudharsan and Gill Form a Strong Opening Duo

Alongside Gill, Sai Sudharsan has emerged as a key contributor at the top of the order. With 504 runs in 10 matches at an average of 50.40 and a strike rate of 154.12, Sudharsan is currently second in the Orange Cap race, just behind Virat Kohli. The duo has formed a strong and consistent opening pair for Gujarat.

Solanki credited their success to their work ethic and similar approach to the game. “They are traditional in how they prepare. Both have a solid technique and understand how to handle the new ball. Their chemistry is a result of hard work,” he said.

Gujarat Titans Eye Playoffs With Renewed Confidence

With a balanced squad and smart planning, GT is looking like a serious contender this season. Gill’s leadership, backed by consistent performances and strategic decision-making, is proving to be a vital asset in their campaign.
