Jadeja Slams Gambhir Over Bumrah Selection vs UAE

Jadeja blasts Gambhir over Bumrah’s UAE selection

Ajay Jadeja has strongly criticized India’s decision to play Jasprit Bumrah against UAE in their Asia Cup 2025 opener. He questioned the logic of risking Bumrah in a low-stakes match, especially given his history of injuries and recent recovery from a stress fracture.

“Ab UAE ke against bhi tumhe Bumrah chahiye?”

Jadeja voiced his frustration on Sony Sports Network, saying, “Usually, you keep him wrapped in cotton wool. Now you need Bumrah even against the UAE?” He warned that if Bumrah plays, he would go on strike, calling the decision illogical and hypocritical.

Irfan Pathan and Gavaskar Echo Concerns

Irfan Pathan backed Jadeja’s stance, arguing that if a player is part of the squad, he should play the full series. He criticized selective workload management, saying it disrupts rhythm and team balance. Sunil Gavaskar had earlier expressed similar views during the England tour.

India’s Squad Strategy Under Scrutiny

With the T20 World Cup just five months away, India’s squad rotation and injury management are under the spotlight. Bumrah’s inclusion alongside Arshdeep, Varun Chakaravarthy, and Axar Patel suggests a pace-heavy approach, leaving no room for Kuldeep Yadav in the XI.
