Jasprit Bumrah Eyes Swinging Conditions in England, Talks About Managing All-Format Demands

Bumrah Eyes England Swing Talks Format Demands

India’s premier fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah is eagerly looking forward to the upcoming England Test series, where he hopes to take full advantage of swing-friendly conditions and the Dukes ball. With the series set to begin on June 20 in Leeds, Bumrah has his sights on bowling in favorable English conditions—despite the challenge of the ball getting soft.

Bumrah: “Love Bowling with the Dukes Ball”

Speaking to Michael Clarke on the Beyond23 Cricket YouTube channel, Bumrah said:

“Playing in England is always a different challenge. I always love bowling with the Dukes ball… but when it gets soft, that’s where the real test begins.”

The series marks Bumrah’s third tour to England, where he has already taken 37 wickets in 8 Tests at an average of 23.78. He believes England’s aggressive batting style offers bowlers a real opportunity to make breakthroughs.

On England’s Style: “I Don’t Really Understand It”

Commenting on England’s aggressive Test approach under Bazball, Bumrah admitted it’s “interesting,” and added:

“When batters are ultra-aggressive, on a given day, any bowler can run through and take wickets.”

India’s pace attack includes Mohammed Siraj, Arshdeep Singh, Prasidh Krishna, and Akash Deep, all of whom, Bumrah says, can rise to the challenge.

Bumrah on Managing Workload: “Be Smart with the Body”

With the T20 World Cup 2026 on the horizon, Bumrah acknowledged the toll of playing all three formats. While he aims to continue across formats, workload management will be key.

“You have to be a little selective and smart about how you use your body… I just take one day at a time and collect memories, because at the end, that’s all I’ll remember.”

Bumrah is unlikely to play all five Tests of the England tour, as selectors plan to manage his workload carefully.
