Mayank Yadav’s Struggles Continue as LSG Slammed for Rushed Return

Mayank Yadav's Struggles Raise Concerns for LSG

Lucknow Super Giants’ young pace sensation Mayank Yadav is under fire after failing to impress in his comeback matches during IPL 2025. The 21-year-old fast bowler, who was retained by LSG for INR 11 crore, returned from a back injury but hasn’t lived up to expectations, sparking criticism from experts and fans alike.

Mayank Yadav’s Comeback Falls Flat

After missing the first nine games due to injury, Mayank has played two matches but taken just two wickets while conceding runs at an economy of 12.50. His most recent outing against Punjab Kings was particularly underwhelming, where he gave away 60 runs in four overs without picking a wicket.

Rayudu Slams LSG’s ‘Desperation’

Former India cricketer Ambati Rayudu voiced strong concerns over LSG’s decision to fast-track Mayank’s return. Speaking on ESPNcricinfo, Rayudu suggested the franchise acted out of desperation rather than patience.

“It’s not about pace, but confidence. Coming back from injury takes time. LSG might have shown some desperation to bring him in. Maybe he’s just not ready yet,” said Rayudu.

Punjab Kings Outclass LSG

In the same match, Punjab Kings crushed LSG by 37 runs. Prabhsimran Singh led the charge with a sensational 91 off 48 balls, while Arshdeep Singh’s 3/16 spell dismantled LSG’s top order. Despite a lone fight from Ayush Badoni (74 off 40), LSG could only manage 199/7 in their chase of 236.

LSG Playoff Hopes Fade

With a third consecutive loss, LSG’s playoff chances are now hanging by a thread. Even if they win their remaining three matches, their net run rate could still keep them out of contention for a top-four finish.

As Mayank Yadav struggles to find rhythm and LSG reels under pressure, the management’s handling of player fitness and team balance has come under serious scrutiny.
