Mitchell Marsh Re-Signs with Perth Scorchers for Three Years, Aims to Finish BBL Career with One Club

Mitchell Marsh Re-Signs with Perth Scorchers for 3 Years

Australia’s T20I captain and veteran all-rounder Mitchell Marsh has re-committed to the Perth Scorchers, signing a fresh three-year contract with the Big Bash League (BBL) franchise. With this deal, Marsh hopes to become a one-club player, having started his BBL journey with the Scorchers in the league’s very first season.

Marsh Dismisses Exit Speculations, Reaffirms Loyalty

There was some speculation about Marsh’s future after he wasn’t among the Scorchers’ ten pre-signed players earlier this year. However, the 33-year-old has put all rumors to rest by pledging his commitment to the franchise.

“I’m really proud to sign on with the Scorchers, a team that I’ve played with since I was a kid,” said Marsh. “Being a one-club player was a big part of my decision… it was quite an easy one to make.”

Looking Ahead: More BBL Matches on the Cards

Marsh has played only one BBL game in the past three seasons due to national duties and injury setbacks. But with the focus now shifting more toward white-ball cricket, fans can expect to see a lot more of him in the Scorchers jersey in the coming years.

“There’s no doubt I’ll be around a lot more in the next few years. It’s all about contributing, adding value, and chasing more silverware,” Marsh added.

The Bond with Teammates Runs Deep

For Marsh, the Scorchers aren’t just a team—they’re family. He highlighted his long-standing friendships with teammates, including Joel Paris, who was a groomsman at his wedding.

Franchise Reaction: Scorchers Delighted

Kade Harvey, Scorchers’ High Performance Manager, expressed his excitement over retaining Marsh for three more seasons.

“Signing Mitch was a top priority. His leadership, experience, and hunger for success are invaluable to our team. He’s been part of our franchise’s fabric since day one.”

A True Scorchers Legend

Mitchell Marsh remains the only active player from Perth Scorchers’ inaugural BBL season, where he played a match-winning knock of 77* against Sydney Sixers in the first-ever final. His return promises to boost both team morale and on-field performance.

WBBL Update: Jess Jonassen Stays with Brisbane Heat

In the WBBL, Jess Jonassen has also committed to staying loyal to her club. She has signed a two-year extension with Brisbane Heat, making her the longest-serving player with 147 matches. She’s coming off a successful WPL campaign, taking 13 wickets and scoring two half-centuries for Delhi Capitals.
