Mohammed Shami Ordered to Pay ₹4 Lakh Per Month to Hasin Jahan and Daughter

Mohammed Shami Ordered to Pay ₹4 Lakh Monthly Alimony

India cricketer Mohammed Shami has been directed by the Calcutta High Court to pay ₹4 lakh per month in alimony to his estranged wife Hasin Jahan and their daughter. The judgment comes after a six-year-long legal battle following allegations of domestic violence and adultery made by Jahan in 2018.

As per the court’s order, Shami is required to pay ₹1.5 lakh to Hasin Jahan and ₹2.5 lakh to their daughter every month. The couple married in 2014 but have been separated since 2018.

Speaking after the verdict, Hasin Jahan expressed gratitude for the judgment but maintained that the amount was insufficient. “The way he leads his lifestyle, ₹4 lakh is less. We demanded ₹10 lakh four years ago. The cost of living has increased now, and we will demand it again,” she said.

Jahan’s lawyer, Imtiaz Ahmed, called the ruling a significant step forward in the legal case but indicated that there is a strong possibility the alimony amount could be increased when the trial court resumes hearings. “There is a high chance that when the trial court concludes the hearing, the amount may be upgraded to ₹6 lakh,” he said.

The legal dispute began in 2018 when Jahan filed a petition in the Alipore court accusing Shami and his family of domestic abuse. The court had earlier granted ₹80,000 per month as interim maintenance for their daughter.

Mohammed Shami has not publicly commented on the recent court order. As of now, the payment remains legally binding until any further ruling from the trial court.
