MS Dhoni Shares Hopeful Update on CSK’s Future

MS Dhoni on CSK’s Future, Gaikwad & 2025 Fix Plans

After a disappointing IPL 2025 campaign, MS Dhoni has broken his silence on Chennai Super Kings’ poor performance and shared positive signs for the future. At a recent private event, the legendary cricketer addressed the team’s shortcomings and highlighted Ruturaj Gaikwad’s return as a crucial factor in rebuilding the squad.

CSK finished last this season, winning just 4 out of 14 matches. Dhoni, who resumed captaincy midway through the tournament due to Gaikwad’s injury, admitted the batting lineup struggled throughout. However, he reassured fans that the franchise is on the right track now. “We were slightly worried about our batting order. But I think we are quite sorted now. Rutu will be coming back,” Dhoni stated.

Gaikwad last played for CSK in early April and missed the remainder of the season. His recent selection in the West Zone squad for the Duleep Trophy indicates his return to competitive cricket is near.

Mini Auction Could Reshape CSK in 2025

Looking ahead, Dhoni acknowledged the gaps in CSK’s current setup and expressed optimism about strengthening the side during the upcoming mini-auction. “I won’t say we slacked off. But there were certain holes that we needed to plug. Some loopholes are there, and we will try to fix those in December,” he explained.

The former India captain emphasized learning from recent failures. “Yes, the last couple of years have not been good for us. We have not been up to the mark. But what is important is to understand what went wrong,” he added.

Despite multiple hints, Dhoni did not reveal his own retirement plans. With fans eagerly waiting to know if he will return for another season, the CSK legend has chosen to stay quiet, leaving the door open for one more comeback—or a farewell.
