PSL 2025 to Resume on May 17, Final Set for May 25

PSL 2025 to Resume on May 17, Final on May 25

The Pakistan Super League (PSL) 2025 will officially resume on May 17, with the final scheduled for May 25, as confirmed by PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi on Tuesday. The announcement comes days after the tournament was suspended due to cross-border tensions between India and Pakistan.

PCB Chairman Confirms New Dates

Mohsin Naqvi made the announcement via social media, writing:

“HBL PSL X picks up from where it left off. 6 teams, 0 fear. Get ready for 8 thrilling matches starting 17th May, leading up to the Grand Final on 25th May. Best of luck to all the teams!”

While the official venues and revised schedule are yet to be announced, it’s expected that the remaining eight matches will be hosted in Pakistan. Franchises are reportedly pushing for a quick conclusion to the season.

Overseas Player Unavailability and Replacement Draft

A major concern heading into the resumed phase is the availability of overseas players. Several international stars are unlikely to return due to overlapping commitments, which may cause team imbalance.

According to ESPNcricinfo, the PCB held a meeting with franchises on Monday to address this issue. One possible solution under discussion is organizing a replacement player draft to ensure each team can complete its squad.

Bangladesh Tour of Pakistan to Be Rescheduled

The revised PSL schedule also clashes with the originally planned tour of Bangladesh. The first T20I, scheduled for May 25 in Faisalabad, now coincides with the PSL 2025 final.

While the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has acknowledged the clash, they confirmed that discussions are ongoing with the PCB regarding the new tour schedule.

Initially, Bangladesh was set to play five T20Is in Faisalabad and Lahore from May 25 to June 3.

As PSL 2025 returns after a tense interruption, fans can look forward to a thrilling finish, though uncertainties over international player availability and scheduling conflicts remain to be addressed.
