RCB Slammed for ‘Error in Judgment’ After Stampede Mars IPL Victory Celebration

RCB Slammed for Poorly Planned Victory Celebration

Royal Challengers Bengaluru’s historic maiden IPL title win was tragically overshadowed after 11 fans died in a stampede outside the M Chinnaswamy Stadium during the team’s victory celebrations in Bengaluru. The event, held the day after the final, also left over 30 injured, sparking outrage over poor planning.

Former India cricketer Robin Uthappa, deeply affected by the incident, expressed his disappointment on his YouTube channel, saying:

“The victory will always be marred by the loss of lives. It’s unfortunate they can’t even enjoy what they worked so hard for.”

‘Could Have Taken a Day Off to Plan’ – Uthappa

Uthappa, a Bengaluru native, said he delayed his social media reaction because of how angry and heartbroken he was.

“They should’ve just taken a day off to plan better. The city deserved the celebration, but not like this.”

He added that future RCB matches would remind him of the families who suffered irreversible loss, saying:

“My heart shudders to think what those families will experience every time RCB plays again.”

Backlash, Arrests, and Compensation

RCB announced an INR 10 lakh compensation for each affected family. However, public backlash intensified when RCB Head of Marketing, Nikhil Sosale, was arrested in connection with the event. He has since been granted interim bail with conditions including surrendering his passport.
