Rinku Singh Excited to Reunite With Gambhir

Rinku Singh Excited to Play Under Gambhir in Asia Cup

India’s young batting sensation Rinku Singh has expressed his excitement to play under head coach Gautam Gambhir in the upcoming Asia Cup 2025. Rinku previously worked with Gambhir at Kolkata Knight Riders during their IPL 2024 title-winning campaign, where Gambhir acted as his mentor. The left-handed batter is in fine form in the ongoing Uttar Pradesh Premier League, scoring 332 runs at a strike rate of 179.46, including a couple of half-centuries.

After a modest IPL season with KKR, where he scored 206 runs at a strike rate of 153.73, the young batter has regained confidence. Team management has backed him to play the finisher’s role in the Asia Cup, where he is expected to bat lower down the order.

Praises Gambhir’s Support and Guidance

Rinku Singh spoke highly of Gambhir’s influence on his career, saying that the former India opener consistently boosted his confidence and provided technical guidance. “GG sir has always backed me and supported me a lot. When I first met him at KKR, he gave me so much confidence. He always backs his players and injects confidence. I’m really eager to play under his coaching again. It’s a special feeling to share the dressing room with a legend like GG sir,” Rinku told Times of India.

Although he has not yet spoken with Gambhir about the Asia Cup, Rinku is excited to meet him in Dubai and plans to have a detailed conversation. His inclusion in the Asia Cup squad also strengthens his chances of being part of India’s T20 World Cup 2026 squad. “Till now, we haven’t spoken about anything. I’m just very excited to meet him and learn from him. His support in my career has been immense,” he added.
