Despite a rough personal season, Rishabh Pant expressed satisfaction with his team’s 33-run victory over Gujarat Titans (GT) at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. While Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) are officially out of the IPL 2025 playoffs, Pant emphasized learning from the season and praised key contributions from his teammates.
“There was a time we had the chance to qualify,” said Pant during the post-match presentation. “But that’s part of the game. We need to learn, improve, and move forward.”
Pant Acknowledges Batting Unit, Highlights Shahrukh’s Knock
Pant applauded Shahrukh Khan’s impressive performance, which helped boost the lower-order batting strength. He also praised Mitchell Marsh, Aiden Markram, and Nicholas Pooran for their consistent efforts during the tournament.
“The way Shahrukh batted gives us hope down the order,” Pant noted. “Despite injuries early in the season, the batting unit showed resilience. Fielding lapses were there, but the focus is on improvement.”
A Flop Season for Pant, but a Final Flourish
Pant’s 2025 IPL campaign was far from his best. In 12 appearances before this match, he scored only 135 runs at a disappointing average of 12.27, struggling to even maintain a strike rate of 100. His highest score came against Chennai Super Kings (63 off 49 balls).
However, in the match against GT, Pant offered a glimpse of his explosive ability, scoring 16 runs off 6 balls, including two sixes off Kagiso Rabada.
Meanwhile, GT stays at the top of the IPL 2025 points table with 18 points from 13 matches. LSG, with 6 wins and 7 losses, sits at sixth place with 12 points.
While LSG won’t feature in the playoffs, Pant hopes the team takes lessons from this season into the future.
