Indian cricketer Rishabh Pant has earned admiration for his selfless act of helping a deserving student, Jyoti Kanaboor Math, from Karnataka secure college admission. Pant provided financial assistance to ensure Jyoti could pursue her dream of higher education despite facing financial difficulties.
Jyoti, who hails from Rabakavi village in Bilagi taluk, scored 83% in her II PUC (Class 12) exams. Although she was academically bright, her family’s financial situation made it difficult to afford the college fees for her desired course, Bachelor of Computer Applications (BCA). Her father, Teerthayya, runs a small tea stall in the village, leaving him unable to support her educational expenses.
Rishabh Pant’s Timely Intervention
At this point, Anil Hunashikatti, a local contractor, stepped in to help Jyoti. He approached his contacts in Bengaluru to assist her in securing a BCA seat at BLDE College in Jamkhandi. Through these connections, the matter reached Rishabh Pant, who was moved by Jyoti’s situation. On July 17, Pant promptly transferred Rs 40,000 directly to the college’s account to cover Jyoti’s first-semester fees, ensuring she could start her education.
Jyoti expressed her gratitude, saying, “I had a dream of pursuing a BCA course, but our financial condition at home was not good. I approached Anil Hunashikatti anna for help, and he contacted his friends in Bengaluru. They brought my situation to Rishabh Pant’s attention, and he helped me.”
