Sai Sudharsan’s Composed Genius Wins Praise and Orange Cap Lead

Sai Sudharsan Tops Orange Cap with 617 Runs in IPL 2025

B Sai Sudharsan continues to make headlines in IPL 2025, not just for his explosive scores but for the composure and control he brings to the shortest format. With 617 runs in 12 matches, including five fifties and a century, Sudharsan now leads the Orange Cap standings. His latest knock—108 off 61 balls*—powered Gujarat Titans (GT) to a thumping 10-wicket win over Delhi Capitals (DC).

“His Wagon Wheel Tells the Story” – Banga

Former India cricketer Sanjay Bangar, speaking on JioHotstar, lauded Sudharsan’s maturity at the crease.

“His wagon wheel showed runs across all regions—he doesn’t rely on one area. That’s the hallmark of a smart T20 player,” said Bangar.

Bangar further emphasized the controlled use of the top hand, especially during the early overs.

“To show restraint in the powerplay is rare. Once he’s set, he opens up with clean lofted shots.”

Sudharsan’s all-round strokeplay and balanced technique set him apart in a format often dominated by brute force.

GT’s Chase: A Masterclass in Partnership

In the match at Arun Jaitley Stadium, GT skipper Shubman Gill won the toss and opted to field. Despite DC posting a challenging 199/3, thanks to KL Rahul’s 67-ball 112* and late cameos by Axar Patel and Tristan Stubbs, it wasn’t enough.

In reply, Gill (93 off 53)* and Sudharsan (108 off 61)* stitched together a record 205-run stand, sealing the chase with an over to spare. DC’s bowling attack had no answers for the GT openers’ calculated onslaught.

A Star in the Making

With his ability to score all around the ground, maintain calm under pressure, and consistently convert starts into big scores, Sai Sudharsan has become a pillar of Gujarat Titans’ success. If this form continues, not only could he finish as the Orange Cap holder, but also as a future contender for India’s senior T20 squad.
