Punjab Kings reached their second-ever IPL final after a thrilling win over Mumbai Indians in Qualifier 2 of the IPL 2025 season. Captain Shreyas Iyer starred with the bat, scoring an unbeaten 87 off just 41 balls to chase down a huge target of 204 runs. With this victory, PBKS will now face Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) in the final on June 3 at the Narendra Modi Stadium, Ahmedabad.

Preity Zinta’s Celebration Goes Viral

The celebrations after the win were as dramatic as the match. PBKS co-owner and Bollywood star Preity Zinta couldn’t hold back her excitement. She jumped with joy and ran onto the field to hug Shreyas Iyer and head coach Ricky Ponting. In a lighthearted moment that went viral, she winked at one of the players during the post-match celebration, which finally got the serious-faced Shreyas Iyer to smile.

Her co-owner Ness Wadia also hugged every squad member, clearly moved by the team’s incredible performance.

MI Left Heartbroken, Hardik Pandya Consoled by Bumrah

Mumbai Indians, five-time champions, were left disappointed after the loss. Skipper Hardik Pandya was visibly emotional, falling to the ground after the final six was hit. Jasprit Bumrah was seen consoling him, and both later went on to shake hands with the PBKS players. MI owners Nita and Akash Ambani were also seen with somber expressions.

Despite a rain delay of over two hours, the match lived up to the hype. MI posted 203/8, but Shreyas Iyer’s masterclass ensured Punjab crossed the line with an over to spare.
