Suryakumar Yadav Dedicates MI Win Over SRH to Wife Devisha

In a thrilling match that saw Mumbai Indians (MI) defeat Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) by 7 wickets, Suryakumar Yadav continued his incredible form with the bat, scoring an unbeaten 40 runs off 19 balls. His powerful finish guided MI to a comfortable chase, taking them to victory with 26 balls to spare. This win marked another crucial step in MI’s recovery after a slow start to the IPL 2025 season, as they moved up to third place on the points table with five wins from nine matches.

Suryakumar Yadav’s Dedication to His Wife

Suryakumar, who has been in top form in the last few matches, revealed that his wife, Devisha Shetty, played a key role in motivating him during the game. Surya dedicated the win to her after discovering she had flown in from Mumbai to cheer for him. Initially, Devisha was not supposed to attend the match, but when Suryakumar learned she was there, he knew he had to secure the victory for her.

“She has flown down from Mumbai, so what else do I need, that’s a more happy moment. She was not coming for the game, she was here, so we had to win. She didn’t find a place (bakery) but I am sure she has kept something special for me tonight,” Suryakumar said, sharing his joy after the match.

Surya’s Impressive Form

With this knock, Suryakumar Yadav further solidified his place in the Orange Cap race, moving up to third spot with 373 runs from 9 matches at an impressive average of 62.17. His recent form has been crucial to MI’s resurgence after a slow start to the season.

Mumbai’s Winning Streak

This victory was MI’s fourth consecutive win, a streak that Suryakumar emphasized was essential for keeping the momentum alive. “It was really important to come out positive as we were playing good cricket, and we had to continue the momentum. Winning four games on the trot is a great feeling,” Surya said.

Rohit Sharma’s Contribution

Suryakumar also credited his teammate and former captain, Rohit Sharma, for making his job easier. Rohit, who scored 70 runs off 46 balls, was in exceptional form, and his 53-run partnership with Surya for the third wicket set the stage for a successful chase. “He made my job really easier, I just had to bat with good tempo and him scoring runs is a really great sign for the team,” Suryakumar added.
