In the afternoon match between RCB and PBKS, Kohli anchored his side’s seven-wicket win with an unbeaten 73 off 54 balls. His innings took his season tally to 322 runs in seven matches, including four half-centuries. Kohli’s average now stands at an impressive 64.40, the highest among regular top-order batters, though his strike rate of 140.00 remains the lowest among the top five run-scorers.
Suryakumar’s Blazing Knock Reclaims Top 3 Spot
Later in the evening, Suryakumar Yadav smashed 68* off just 30 balls as Mumbai Indians crushed Chennai Super Kings. His fireworks pushed him to 333 runs in the tournament, climbing past Kohli to claim the third spot in the Orange Cap leaderboard.
He now trails only LSG’s Nicholas Pooran (368) and GT’s B Sai Sudharsan (365), who has a chance to take the Orange Cap when GT face KKR on Monday.
Other Orange Cap Contenders
Following Kohli and Suryakumar are Jos Buttler (315) and Yashasvi Jaiswal (307), both in strong form this season. Mitchell Marsh, once in the top three, has slipped to No. 7 with 299 runs.
Prasidh Krishna Leads Unchanged Purple Cap Table
On the bowling front, Prasidh Krishna of GT continues to lead with 14 wickets. Despite several contenders playing on Sunday, none made breakthroughs to shake up the standings.
Kuldeep Yadav (DC), Noor Ahmad (CSK), Josh Hazlewood (RCB), and Hardik Pandya (MI) all went wicketless, while Arshdeep Singh took one but remains behind.
Close behind with 12 wickets each are Kuldeep, Noor, Hazlewood, and Shardul Thakur. Five bowlers share the 11-wicket mark: R Sai Kishore, Mohammed Siraj, Hardik, Arshdeep, and Khaleel Ahmed.
