Tim David Rejoins RCB as Franchise Gears Up for Playoffs in IPL 2025

Tim David Returns to Boost RCB’s Playoff Push in IPL 2025

Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) received a massive boost ahead of the IPL 2025 playoffs as Tim David, one of their key finishers, rejoined the squad in Bengaluru. David is joined by Romario Shepherd, Lungi Ngidi, Liam Livingstone, Jacob Bethell, and Phil Salt as the team prepares for its final league games with a playoff berth in sight.

Who’s Back for RCB?

  • Tim David: Set to play a crucial role in the death overs.
  • Romario Shepherd: Availability uncertain, but his explosive 14-ball 53* against CSK remains a standout moment this season.
  • Lungi Ngidi: Returned but expected to leave by May 25 to prepare for the WTC final with South Africa.
  • Jacob Bethell: Will be available for just two matches, returning to England post-May 23 for the WI series.
  • Phil Salt: Available through the remainder of the IPL, as England’s T20I series begins only on June 6.
  • Liam Livingstone: Rejoins the squad for the critical final phase.

Still Awaiting Hazlewood

RCB are still awaiting Josh Hazlewood, who is nursing a minor shoulder niggle. While his injury is not serious, Cricket Australia is yet to issue a final fitness update. He remains in Australia’s squad for the WTC final starting June 11.

RCB’s Playoff Equation

With eight wins in 11 matches, RCB are firmly placed in the top four. A win in either of their last two fixtures would seal a playoff berth:

  • May 18: RCB vs KKR (Home)
  • May 27: LSG vs RCB (Away)

RCB had earlier defeated Kolkata Knight Riders in Kolkata, giving them a psychological edge ahead of their next encounter.
