At just 14 years old, Vaibhav Suryavanshi has taken the IPL by storm, becoming the youngest player to score a century in the tournament’s history. The Rajasthan Royals star made headlines on Monday with a blistering 35-ball century against Gujarat Titans, breaking records and earning the title of the fastest-ever Indian to score an IPL century. But it’s not just his talent that has impressed the cricketing world; it’s his mindset, fearless approach, and clarity in execution that have made his performances truly stand out.
Fearless Approach Against International Bowlers
Despite being just 14, Suryavanshi showed no fear against world-class international bowlers like Shardul Thakur, Mohammed Siraj, Prasidh Krishna, and Rashid Khan. His approach was clear: if the ball was in his hitting zone, he would go for it. “If the ball comes into my radar, I will hit it,” Vaibhav said after his record-breaking knock of 101 off 38 balls. His confidence was evident from the very first ball of his IPL debut, where he smashed a six off Shardul Thakur.
For Suryavanshi, the pressure of playing against international bowlers and on such a big stage didn’t faze him. “I was just playing my game. I wasn’t thinking it’s my first game. Yes, there was an international bowler in front of me, but I was just focusing on my own game,” he shared with IPLT20.com.
A Stellar Performance in IPL 2025
In a game where Rajasthan Royals successfully chased down 210 runs in just 15.5 overs, Suryavanshi played a pivotal role. His knock included 11 sixes, with a staggering 94 of his 101 runs coming from boundaries. His aggressive style and clarity of mind were on full display, earning him accolades from both fans and cricketing legends.
Gratitude for Parents’ Sacrifice
Suryavanshi is aware of the sacrifices his parents, Sanjeev and Aarti, made to help him reach this stage in his career. Reflecting on their hard work, he shared how his mother wakes up at 3 AM to prepare meals for him, and his father had to leave his job to support his cricketing aspirations. “I am what I am because of my parents. God ensures that those who work hard never fail. The results I’m seeing are because of their sacrifices,” he said.
Focus on National Team and the Future
Despite the limelight, Suryavanshi remains grounded and focused on his long-term goals. He is determined to work hard and eventually represent India on the international stage. “I want to contribute for India, and I have to work hard for that. I cannot stop working hard until I reach that level,” he said, showing immense maturity for his age.
Support from Rajasthan Royals
Suryavanshi’s rise in the IPL has been supported by the Rajasthan Royals management. After impressing during trials, he was selected to join the team, where he received mentorship from batting coach Vikram Rathour and head coach Rahul Dravid. Suryavanshi expressed gratitude towards the entire Royals setup, saying, “To be trained by Rahul sir is a dream come true. I get a lot of support from the team, and they always tell me I can win it for the team.”
A Star in the Making
With a mindset bigger than his sixes and a dedication that belies his age, Vaibhav Suryavanshi has set the stage for a bright future in Indian cricket. His record-breaking IPL century is just the beginning, and fans are eagerly anticipating the next chapter in the young prodigy’s career.
