While playing for the Mumbai Indians in the present IPL 2023, Archer’s elbow issue appears to have returned. The Telegraph claimed that the 28-year-old had gone to Belgium for a simple elbow treatment, but Archer fiercely refuted those claims in a tweet.
Sir Andrew Strauss, a former England captain, has acknowledged that Jofra Archer would be a huge loss if he were to be ruled out of the Ashes series in June. The speedster’s elbow has been an issue for a while, according to Strauss.
Strauss said
In an interview with Sky Sports, Strauss acknowledged that it is difficult to make predictions without having all the information. He stated:
“It has to be a concern. Without knowing the details of it, it’s obviously hard to speculate. That elbow has been troublesome for a long period now, a number of different injuries with it. It’s easy to be over cautious, and perhaps that’s what is happening now, but he would be a significant loss if he wasn’t there for the Ashes.”
The 46-year-old praised England’s recent aggressive cricketing strategy, calling it “mind-blowing.” Additionally, he believes the Ashes will present them with a chance to advance. The former captain of England said:
“The style of cricket England have been playing over the last 12 months, it has been phenomenal to watch, mind blowing actually. And obviously they have the greatest stage of all to show whether they can do it against a really good team in Australia. It is going to be a tough series I think, two teams that will go hammer and tongs against each other. I think it’s going to be compelling viewing, really exciting.”
This year, during the SA20, Archer made his comeback to professional cricket with MI Cape Town. During the limited-overs series, he played against South Africa in his first international match since March 2021. However, the fast bowler has only participated in two IPL games this year.
