Tim David can excel as a finisher for Mumbai Indians (MI) in the current season of the Indian Premier League (IPL 2023), according to former Australian cricketer Tom Moody.
David, in Moody’s opinion, has the potential to step into Kieron Pollard’s shoes for the Mumbai-based team in the future. He predicted that as the daring hitter plays more games, he will improve.
Tom Moody said
According to Tom Moody in an interview with ESPNcricinfo:
“Kieron Pollard was one of the game’s greats and one of the great finishers. I think Tim David will potentially reach those heights, but he is in the infant stages of that particular role. He has got all the ingredients that Pollard has got. He just needs to learn and understand the game a little bit more. He will only get that with playing opportunities.”
In the IPL 2023, Tim David has distinguished himself by scoring 113 runs at a strike rate of 143.04 in seven games.
On Tuesday, April 25, during Mumbai vs. Gujarat Titans (GT) at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad, he was out for a two-ball duck.
Tim David will need to modify his approach to the game, according to former Australian speedster Shaun Tait, who said this during the aforementioned meeting.
He emphasized how the right-handed batter lost his wicket while attempting to hit an aggresive shot against Gujarat on the second ball he faced. Tait suggested that before trying to lift the ante, David should think about taking a few singles in the beginning of his innings.”He is the sort of player that if there are some runs on the board and he comes in a comfortable time, he is extremely dangerous. It is critical, but maybe the next step in his game is maybe getting a few ones first down the ground, getting yourself an over, and then you can launch. I felt like he pulled the trigger a bit early tonight,” Tait said.
